...during the last week of the crew's stay in Cambridge, and there line up along the water front, and cheer them. The crew would then row up and down the river several times, before going down into the basin, and show the men how they had improved in speed and form. In this way a great deal of enthusiasm was aroused, and that feeling of estrangement, which now exists between the crew and the rest of the College, was entirely lacking. Now why can't we renew this old custom, and all go down to the boat house next...
...Freshman Crew has been rowing in last year's 'Varsity practice shell, which is somewhat heavy, for the past two weeks, no great amount of speed work has been done. Now, however, the shell in which they won the class races, which the 'Varsity has been using, is to be returned and a time row which will show whether the crew has made any progress of late will be rowed in a few days...

This is a rather heavy boat, so as yet no great amount of speed work has been done. The crew will soon go into their new racing shell, which will be one of the two new ones ordered by the 'Varsity. The 'Varsity will take the one that suits them best and the Freshmen will have the other...
