Princeton's play has lacked snap this year, and Yale expects that sharp. aggressive work will demoralize the New Jersey men. But while Princeton's line is somewhat out of balance, this is probably the only weakness that Yale will find in it; and when it comes to aggressive work the Princeton eleven is apt to surprise Yale. Little is known of Princeton's team play, but we have seen that Yale's is at times really remarkable. Such work kept up throughout a game would be well nigh invincible. But the Yale team did not keep it up last...
...freshman team has improved a little and yesterday played with more life and snap than usual. The work of the backs was especially good. The general play of the eleven, however, is far inferior to that of most freshman elevens. Their work up to a couple of weeks ago was lifeless and showed almost utter lack of interest. Lately, however, the work has been a little bettered; but if the accounts are true concerning Yale's freshmen team, that eleven is playing a far better game than Harvard's freshman representatives. ...first set, and were visibly tired out in the last two. Their chief fault was a slow return, and generally into their opponent's hands. Tallant was the quicker of the two and did some brilliant work, especially at the beginning. Lee played more carelessly and with less snap, making at times inexcusable returns. The wind that came up during the last part of the afternoon interfered considerably with the games, and caused each side to lose several points...
...ball, but Shaw dropped on it when put in play. Lake was sent around the end and gained 25 yards. Upton followed with a pretty run through the line; Corbett gained, too, but the referee gave the ball to Orange for holding in the line. Robbins fumbled the first snap back, and Shaw, who had broken through the line, snatched up the ball, ran 18 yards, and scored; no goal. Score 10-0. The next touch-down was a little slower in coming, but the ball was kept in the visitors' territory all the time. A bad misunderstanding...
