In the film sense -even though the careful medieval settings often smell too much of the theater, and the score by Sir William Walton is seldom better than appropriate-Richard is much more idiomatic and natural than Olivier's Hamlet was, though by its very subject it can never match the swallow's verve and sudden tumbling heartbeat of his Henry...
