...patient of Sexologist Havelock Ellis, who described her in his autobiography as "a shy sinuous figure, so slender and so tall that she seemed frail, yet lithe, one divined, of firm and solid texture." Freud, who analyzed her in the early '30s for $25 a session, told her she was a classic example of bisexuality. H.D.'s own ideal was not a psychological abstraction but a statue of a sleeping hermaphrodite that she had seen as a young woman at the Diocletian Gallery in Rome...

DIED. Carolyn Jones, 50, sultry, sinuous actress who played the ghoulamorous Morticia on television's The Addams Family; of cancer; in Beverly Hills. A promising starlet whose supporting performance as a love-starved beatnik in The Bachelor Party (1957) was nominated for an Oscar, Jones left the movies in 1964 to star for two years in the TV sitcom based on Charles Addams' offbeat New Yorker cartoons...

...perhaps a slightly different standard should be suggested. Every Breath You Take, the sinuous, sinister and entirely irresistible Police single, is the sound track of the late summer, the song of the season, just as Flashdance . . . What a Feeling and David Bowie's Let's Dance were early summer's anthems. ...woven Indian style smock along with the cummerbunds and so forth. But what happens on stage necessarily leaves them pale by comparison. Carlo Rizzo who dances the rooster is astonishing as is Susan White as the Fox; the latter in a scarlet body stocking attacks and "dies" with a sinuous grace while Rizzo does best in the rooster's moments of sweaty panic. In one such attack White flips Rizzo to the ground where his black satin coattails fall over his face. His hands the only part of him left unconcealed poke out in coxcomb shape and proceed to dance...

...middle movement, to Façades, is as serene as its predecessor is clamorous. A lyrical melody floats above a simple, slightly shifting rhythmic pattern. A shadowy frieze of girls, tracing small, varied steps, embodies the pattern; two dancers (Maria Caligari, Bart Cook) perform a sinuous pas de deux to the melody. This is a mesmerizing piece. The last segment, to a boisterous excerpt from Glass's opera Akhnaten, is what his fans call "very Jerry": arms up, fingers splayed, keep it moving, get it right the first time. Across, around, up and down the stage sweep cadres...
