...decline in what admittedly was an inflated market was touched off by the hammering of bear fools that finally tapped a layer of stop loss orders, whether the some what uncertain business conditions that appeared in September particularly in the direction of automobiles, "specialties" and rubber brought the shift in public opinion, whether the recent discussion of the Massachusetts, Public Utilities' Commission unsettled the upward movement, or whether the Bank of England's raising its rate a month ago exerted the final pressure that broke the market is in a sense an academic question...
...most startling shift involved Putnam, veteran quarterback. In yesterday afternoon's long scrimmage and signal drill, the regular field general was given a try at left halfback. This shakeup seems to have been caused by the failure of Gilligan, who has started all games in this berth, to show any marked improvement. Putnam has exhibited a fine brand of running this season but it does not seem likely that his shift will be permanent. He also took his old job of directing the team for a while yesterday and Mays, fleet Sophomore flash stepped in at half...
...President (1853-59). At Antioch, co-educational since 1921, students are divided into two divisions, A & B. One of the largest single employers of Antioch brawn and brain is General Motors Corp. Last year General Motors supplied positions at Oakland Motor Car Co. (Pontiac, Mich.), Frigidaire Corp. (Dayton), Fokker...

Two of these men, Devens and Potter, are upon Team A as a result of a radical mid-week shift by Coach Horween, while Gildea is in there because of Ticknor's absence, and Douglas has regained the post of which he was deprived because of an injury. Whether or not Douglas will stay in the game long is problematical...
...possibility that there would be a permanent shift in the Harvard lineup before Saturday became more and more likely yesterday afternoon when Coach Horween made several changes during the signal drill. W. Ticknor resumed his old post at right guard and Davis at the right tackle post. Talbot, who started at right guard against New Hampshire, was in togs but still felt the effects of last Saturday's game...
