Although quite a few letter men graduated there will be a great deal of excellent material available which should shape up into one of the best track teams which the University has had in several years. Captain D. F. O'Connell '21, intercollegiate mile champion in 1919, will again captain the team. But besides him, Coach Donovan will have the following letter men around whom to form a team: E. O. Gourdin '21, who showed up well in last year's intercollegiates, in the sprints and broad jumps; R. W. Harwood '21, a member of the Olympic team last summer...
...report in uniform yesterday. His leg bruise is still bothering him, but reports seem to indicate that he will be in fit condition to start the Yale game. Sedgwick and Gaston, both of whom have been injured, but who played well against Brown, weathered the struggle in good shape, and will also be able to add their strength to the squad next Saturday...
...substitutes against the Brown eleven this afternoon at 2 o'clock. The only two regulars in the line-up are Gaston at right end and Sedgwick at left tackle. It is evident that Coach Fisher is taking advantage of every opportunity to get these two men back into shape before the Yale game. Although the substitute eleven is apt to be hard pressed by the strong Brown team, the experience will be valuable, and should these men be called upon to face Yale next Saturday, they will be able to fill the shoes of the first string men capably...
...first Freshmen appeared in much the same shape as yesterday, most of the regulars watching the practice from the side lines. Team B ran through a long dummy scrimmage against A after the usual routine workout. A snappy signal drill followed, with emphasis laid on charging as well as new plays. Though several of the regular linesmen went through the preliminary workout, it was observed that a substitute line entered the mix-up and that the backfield was second string material. It is obvious that Coach Ryan hopes to be able to enter a team with somewhat of its full...
...most valuable backs and linesmen were out of the play. In fact, the backfield was almost entirely substitutes, E. S. Gehrke, P. Jenkins and L. Lockwood watching from the side lines. Not one of these men is seriously hurt, though Lockwood's leg is in rather troublesome shape. Gehrke and Jenkins, who have been the mainstay of 1924's attack, have sustained minor injuries which may keep them out part of the time Saturday. In that event the Freshmen will be sorely crippled and weakened nearly by half their offensive power. J. G. Donovan, bulky guard, took a light workout...
