This, the basic premise of the movie, is amusing and full to bursting with possibilities for parody. Certainly everything is there and ready to go, but somehow the production never gains much momentum. The problem is that it is all set-up and nothing more. Simon's jokes--the fuel that keeps his plays going--are clever enough, but of such an obvious and predictable nature they can't compensate for the lack of plot development.
