Perhaps "The Glorious 17th" was a sermon on home ethics--who knows? Isn't there a sort of heart-string appeal in the placid features of the old man and the worried expression of his spouse? The fact that this group is of a race which the author forgets to name is simply because the 17th of March happened to be the most timely holiday to portray.
