...third and final game for the chess championship of the college was played yesterday afternoon between S. W. Sturgis '90, and F. W. Nicolls '92, at the rooms of the latter. The first move fell by lot to Sturgis, who opened with the "Scotch Gambit" in which the first player sacrifices a pawn for the sake of a strong attack. By the eighth move Sturgis had recovered the pawn, but their positions were nearly equal.
