...San Carlo Grand Opera Company opened its brief Boston season at the Opera House on Monday with "Aida"--an ambitious undertaking for a limited company on a first night. Antiquated scenery, a badly trained ballet, and several voices that did not seem to have caught the Opera House range, were unfortunate blemishes on an otherwise interesting performance. Miss Rappold has a pleasing voice, well-enough suited to Aida; Mr. Valle's Amonasro was well sung, and Miss Cisneros gave a thoughtful reading of Amneris, if nothing more.
