...plastic-surgery debate is over: if three hours under the knife can transform LINDA TRIPP into a Rene Russo doppelganger, rhinoplasty should be covered by universal health care. According to the National Enquirer, Tripp, tired of being a national punch line, visited Beverly Hills, Calif., surgeon Geoffrey Keyes, who resculpted her nose, removed the bags from under her eyes and sucked fat from her neck, chin and other parts. "It's amazing," marveled Lucianne Goldberg to the New York Post. "It looks like she's had a head transplant." Almost. Meanwhile, Tripp dyed her hair and shed 40 lbs. through...

Suddenly, though, weird things started happening. A line drive on the final out of the seventh by New York's Marius Russo shattered the kneecap of Fat Freddie Fitzsimmons, who had shut out the Yankees in Game Three. New York scored the deciding run via four straight singles off luckless reliever Hugh Casey in the eighth...

The scenes of high adventure and art thievery that overwhelmed the movies trailer is largely confined to the first half-hour of the film. The rest rides on stolen glances and whispered phrases. At least on Brosnan's part, those glances and phrases all seem a bit tedious...

...pleasant surprise. Pierce Brosnan has no intention of demonstrating any range over his career, but that's fine with me as long as he continues to find intriguing costars like Rene Russo to play off of. Russo is one of Hollywood's best kept secrets. Almost every movie she's in (save that monkey mess Buddy) is a bonafide hit. But Russo tends to hide her beauty (even though, ironically enough, she once was a supermodel) by taking goofy roles--she's usually a clumsy, awkward underdog. In Thomas Crown, she leads with her sexuality, and the chemistry she ignites...

Michael Kors, however, in his second collection for the French house of Celine, managed to capture the real spirit of the age: an unabashed appreciation of money. This is not to suggest that Kors, who is responsible for the distractingly elegant ensembles worn by Rene Russo in The Thomas Crown Affair, is in any way a proponent of the garish. The Kors aesthetic is one of beguiling luxury, and his Celine line--with its dramatic but unfussy suits, plush cashmere turtleneck sweaters, buttery leather coats and simply cut beaded gowns--is meant for the woman more than pleased with...
