...Yale freshmen succeeded in defeating the Andover team in foot-ball last Saturday by one goal for Yale kicked from the field, to one from Andover gained by a drop kick. The game was awarded to the freshmen, in accordance with the rule that, "in case of a tie, a goal kicked from a touchdown shall take precedence over touchdowns, or a goal otherwise kicked." Next Saturday the Harvard freshmen will play at Andover. The result of the game will be looked forward to with considerable interest, as, in a measure, indicative of the strength of Harvard's freshman team...

...fall meeting of the H. A. A. took place Saturday afternoon, and was very largely attended. The weather was all that could be desired, the management perfect, and the events well filled and as a rule closely contested. Much credit is due to President Lowell and his assistants for the promptness with which the several events were called, and for the general excellence of the arrangements. Although no records were broken some good time was made. Mr. Baker sustained the reputation which he made for himself in his class meeting and could undoubtedly have made better time...

...finish the positions stood III., IV., I., II., III. winning by a half-length over IV. IV. finished, however, only a quarter-length ahead of I., and I. coming in a full length ahead of II. No time was taken. The rowing of the crews as a rule was very excellent, considering the total lack of experience, and it would seem from the indications of this race that a very fine crew might be selected from '86. ...better day than Saturday could have been chosen for the lacrosse tournament for the Oelrich cup, at the New York Polo Grounds, the weather being perfect. The audience was rather slim, but interested; the fair sex following the fortumes of New York University as a rule, while the knowing ones were there to see "our city club scoop her in again." Six teams entered - New York, Bloom-field, Princeton, N. Y. University, Yale and Harvard, the rules being to play for an hour, unless one side made three goals before that time.
