...chair was occupied by Mr. DeCamp. The first business before the meeting was the admission of new members to the Association. On motion of Captain Brooks, seconded by Peters of Yale, Harvard was re-admitted to the Inter-collegiate Foot-Ball Association. Two slight changes were made in the rules. The opposing centre rush cannot touch the ball until it is put in motion. By the insertion of the words "or a place kick," rule 32 is made to read as follows: "A kick-out must be either a drop-kick, or a place-kick." After some other unimportant business...

...Never has such heavy batting by a college nine in a championship game been witnessed. The game was played on the college grounds which are enclosed by fences just back of left and centre field, while right field stretches up a hill to the college buildings. By the customary rule all hits over the left and centre field fences were to count as two baggers. If this rule had not been in force Harvard's total hits would have amounted to 45, as several balls were knocked over the fences...

...Association has been chosen for the ensuing year. The retiring board of officers have, on the whole, made the association a decided success during the last year, but we think there is room for one great improvement. The fact can not be disputed that the luncheons are, as a rule, very poor. Now the price of board is very low, and we feel sure that a large majority of those who board at Memorial would be glad to have the price raised, if a better quality of food could be thus secured. The unusual spectacle of a contested election...

...question directly as put; for instance, does anyone believe that "The preservation of Constitutional Government demands the immediate repeal of the Hoar Presidential Succession Bill?" Certainly not, - not even the gentleman who framed it. Will any one argue that Mr. Cleveland has "grossly transcended" his authorities, or that Home Rule is "indispensable" to England? Certainly not. The fact that the question itself is absurd, often makes the debate absurd; this, the carelessness with which disputants are chosen, and the indiscriminate way in which applause is meted out, and the reasons for the silliness which now characterizes Union debates...

...cases of emergency one should keep cool. This is the first and most important rule. Poisons are of two kinds, acids or alkalis and narcotics. The value of an alkali as an antidote is very small, unless the dose can be immediately administered. Common cooking soda diluted in water is one of the best alkalis which can be used in case of poisoning by an acid. Lemon juice and vinegar are acids which are valuable as antidotes to alkalis. When an emetic is necessary, mustard diluted in water, or luke-warm water in large quantities, should be given. Milk, olive...
