...surreal, the characters grow a bit tiresome, each having been pitched throughout at a level fairly easy to write and act. When Ridley does provide any extra narrative or emotional push, though, the actors take the equivalent step up effortlessly. Right in step with them is director Christian Roulleau ’01, who paces every scene exquisitely, caring less about how real an exchange may be than about what will provoke the most intense emotional response in the audience. When he applies this philosophy to the show’s technical elements, however, the result tends towards the literal...

...engaging in his scenes with Faiman, ran a little to the whiny side of the Dukedom. Uche Amaechi, playing Olivia's kinsman, Sir Toby, possesses an amazing voice and stage presence, yet seemed wrong for the role of the scheming drunkard. Little can be done with Sir Andrew (Christian Roulleau '01), but Roulleau managed to turn in one of the most traditionally sound performances of the evening...

...some difficult challenges. Ruiz, known for his cleverly farcical, physical style of comedic direction in productions such as The Misanthrope and How the Other Half Loves, confronted and solved the problem of how to find subtler, darker and more naturalistic ways of presenting his characters. As Dave Moss, Christian Roulleau '01 is proof of Ruiz's success. He appears to have mastered the naturalistic intonations and body language called for by Glengarry. Although, at first glimpse, Roulleau's character seems to be in danger of becoming rehearsed, soon he expertly shapes and surfaces the dark, manipulative undercurrent of Moss...

...Buzz: Jesus Christ Superstar? Bah. Everyone's talking about Reckless. Expect the first weekend to be a reckless race to get tickets since Harvard will relocate to Yale for the second weekend. With a talented cast and a quirky storyline, Roulleau might have a huge crowd-pleaser on his hands. Plus, he urges us to look out for "an enormous bed hanging from the ceiling and a peloothered Santa." We're there...
