Thomas Carroll and Holt Ross, A. ...Japanese exhibit, which opened yesterday, consists chiefly of tempre paintings and block prints, the majority of which were lent by Yamanaka & Co. Other prints, some Italian pottery, and other art objects were loaned to the museum by Denman Ross '75. Some of the prints in the exhibition are uncolored, while others are decorated in many brilliant shades. One of the finest in the collection is "Buddha Accompanied by Two Buddhists" all in golden dress, done about 1750. An example of the earliest tempre painting is the "Nirvana of Buddha" from the fourteenth or fifteenth centuries. These remarkable Japanese works...
