...four lone bottles credited to Princeton show that President Dodds' request must have had some effect. No other team this fall, or for many years, has ever left such a small and shoddy monument to its entertainment by fair Harvard, as Princeton's two pint botties and the robust quart. Amherst, Brown, and Dartmouth all left approximately twenty-five times as many dead men, that is, about 100. In all of these games Harvard's consumption was apparently far below what greeted the Tiger, for the arrival of the Nassau delegation upped the Crimson empties by about fifty per cent...

...steel skeleton of a skyscraper under construction. Not content with that, Designer-Producer Bel Geddes has put his scene into operation. A giant crane looming up into the flies brings up six or seven big I-beams which are bolted into place before the eyes of the audience. In robust defiance of the "pusher" (man with the blueprints), four steelworkers ride on the ball attached to the crane-hook. ...Majesty's Government, when challenged by a Germany hungry to regain colonies now under the British flag, to shilly-shally evasively as the Prime Minister has done, bleating that his Cabinet "has not considered this matter." It was Conservative last week, and rousingly Conservative in a robust Victorian sense, when more than 1,000 of the 1,400 Margate Conference delegates leaped to their feet brandishing agenda papers like swords and shouted in unison: "What we have we hold! We hold! WE HOLD!" This Tory spectacle came just before the Conference voted with virtual unanimity the strongest possible resolution...

Prominent last week in the Legion's parade, and looming so large in Cleveland that the convention seemed like a huge family party, were the Legionaries' wives. Robust Mrs. Lorena Harm of Wayne, Neb. was elected to succeed Mrs. Melville Mucklestone as national president of the Legion Auxiliary and her job seemed so big that she prepared to put her 9-year-old son under her sister's care in order to devote all her time to Auxiliary affairs...

Perilous Showers. Dr. Hans Jacob Behrend of Manhattan considers cold showers perilous. Said he: "Those in robust health and with good circulation can overcome the strain engendered by the cold shower. But those less fortunate, particularly weak, anemic and older people, may suffer serious damages as a result of it. Colds, feebleness and fatigue are some of the harmful effects of the cold shower habit. . . . I would not advise any one to take a cold shower...
