Foster prepared for College at Volkmann School, where he ran on the relay team which established the interscholastic record for the mile. In his Freshman year he won first place in the 220-yard dash and second in the 100-yard dash, in the dual meet held with the Yale Freshmen. He won his "H" last year by winning both the 100 and 220-yard dashes against Yale, establishing a new dual record of 21 2-5 seconds in the latter event.
