Some interesting practice was done by Mott Haven men on Holmes field yesterday afternoon. J. P. Lee again broke the world's record for the 220 yds. low hurdle race. Fearing ran down the stretch beside the hurdles and set the pace. The time for the first half of the distance was 12 1-5 secs., and the final time 24 4-5 secs., breaking the former record, made by Lee at the intercollegiate games last year, by nine-twentieths of a second. Wells ran a quarter in 52 2-5 sec., Hawes setting the pace for the last 220 yards. R. S. Hale broke the American collegiate record for the 3 mile walk. Brackett was a fair second. ...management of the Harvard University Cycling Association has provided a very promising program for its open meeting on Saturday. The number of entries is large, and what is more the men who have entered are bicyclists of reputation. A. B. Rich, of the New York Athletic Club has a record of 5 minutes, 25 seconds for 2 miles; and Zimmerman, Murphy and Hoyland Smith are all on a level with Rich. The events are to be both scratch and handicap and some very pretty racing is expected...
