...News says of Yale's game with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Saturday : "The 'Techs' proved to be, on the whole, rather large men, but no such formidable antagonists as the score in their game with Harvard had led us to expect. The result of the game is particularly gratifying, as showing - as far as such indirect comparisons can show - that our team is stronger than Harvard...

...time, and three or four times Harvard narrowly missed scoring, but nothing was gained by either side. In the second three quarters Amherst started off well but was met with a steady resistance, and soon the ball was flying around her goal in a threatening manner. Both sides playing rather carelessly nothing was scored, and time was called with the ball on Amherst's twenty-five yard line. Stroke has an easy, regular motion, but might get a longer reach with advantage. Seven's time is rather poor and he is apt to swing back rather too far. Four and five bend their arms too soon and shoot their hands up instead of straight out, as they ought. Three is very apt to get out of time, but his form is good generally. Two does not keep...

...spectators who witnessed the foot-ball match with the McGill College team last Monday were especially interested in their novel style of game. Their method of starting a scrimmage from a ball held down seemed on the whole rather a failure in our game. This is the regular method employed by elevens playing under the English rules and when both sides enter into these mauls the struggle is often quite exciting. But as our team is accustomed to play an open formation game they could quickly transfer the rushing across the field; a performance which made it rather embarrassing...
