In the inter-collegiate sports this year, in the "Mott Haven" contests, we intend putting our best foot forward ; and if we do not obtain the cup it will not be for lack of trying. Our gymnasium presents a very animated scene, and our athletes are beginning to put in some hard work. ...prospect of the taking down of the seats on Holmes Field, mentioned by the Crimson, because of the non-payment of the builder, is truly deplorable. We can not believe that the threat is serious, or that, if so, the college would allow it to be put into execution. Certainly enough generous supporters of the foot-ball team will be found to liquidate this debt for them. Furthermore, we trust it will not be found impossible, on account of the cost, to adopt the Crimson's plan for the erection of a ladies' grand stand with some suitable covering...
Every day brings new evidence of the need of the Co-operative Association. The extortions of some of the tradesmen of Cambridge are shameful. They have flourished long enough on the outrages they have had the impudence to inflict on students, and now is the time to put an end to their extortions. We are glad to see that the Co-operative Association has determined not to start on a scale that would be too extensive, but we hope that they will gradually take means to free students as far as possible from purchasing any of the necessities from Cambridge...
