...probably be the halfbacks. Both are speedy, run well through a broken field, and are consistent ground-gainers. There is also some promising material from the 1912 team in Pierce, Frothingham and Winston. The hardest task that confronts the coaches will be the development of a quarterback. The same problem, however, came up this fall, and Coaches Haughton and Daly developed from green material a quarterback whose work was of superior quality. Sprague, Crocker and Davis are likely candidates for the position, and from the 1912 team there will be Potter and Wigglesworth...

...were very bright. Both guards from last year's team, Cooney and Geebel, had returned; Brides, Philbin, Murphy and Coy, all of whom played in the backfield last year, were eligible; Andrus. Hobbs and Kilpatrick of the winning 1911 team could fill other places in the line. The chief problem was to find a centre and a quarterback. This presents a problem for the coaches and the team which is hard to overestimate. To be deprived of a linesman of three years experience, whose kicking alone, measured in terms of ground gained, is invaluable, and in addition, a real leader and captain--it is hard to imagine a more serious blow. The two games in the coming fortnight will test Harvard's strength to the limit, and with Burr out of the line-up it will be doubly hard. It is hoped that he will be able to play the Yale game, at least for part...

...should aid materially this year. A wrong idea is not uncommonly held as to the function of the committee in charge. The committee's purpose is not to do the work itself--that would be easy and unprogressive--but to interest as many men as possible in the problem of helping along their less fortunate brothers and to develop an enthusiasm for these beneficial and organized movements which are working for the betterment of society...
