...arrangements for the international chess match have suddenly met with an unexpected difficulty by the absence of the usual outside offer of peculiary aid. In 1808 the Knickerbocker Athletic Club of New York furnished means for carrying on the match and in 1899 the Associated Press made the same offer. This year there has been no such offer and plans have been made to organize a Graduate Chess Association for the purpose of raising funds.
