Sarah Tuttleton captures the teenage self-righteousness of Nora Morton with supernatural accuracy. And while Alexis Susman does have that much room to work with the spoiled Laurie Morton, Susman holds her own when confronted with the smothering affections of Shilling and Poreba...
Eugene's narrative really takes off, though, because of the consistently strong performance of the supporting cast. The characters acquire lives of their own. Janine Poreba's absorbing portrayal of Eugene's mother Kate is especially noteworthy. Because Kate Jerome holds the family together and has a unique relationship with each character, this part is challenging and complex. Poreba gives an intense performance, making appropriate adjustments for different situations. Toward the end of the play, Kate releases about 20 years of pent-up tension in a confrontation with her sister Blanche. Poreba carries Kate's anger, guilt and affection believably...
...especially talented cast is the main attraction of this production. As the hilariously affected Natasha Navratilova, Janine Poreba is a marvelous Russian femme fatale. Her performance is just overdone enough to maintain the farcical edge, never lapsing into cliched corn. Chip Rossetti gives a pat, almost smug performance as playwright Sandor Turai. Turai is almost a straight parody of the Author in Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of the Character and while studied, Rossetti is more than amusing enough to keep us engaged...

Leonato's daughter, Hero (Janine Poreba), who keeps a low profile throughout the play, blossoms in the wedding scene. Her maidenly blush and swoon are entirely convincing. The audience can detect a difference in her after her trauma: the demure lass has aged into a deeper, more mature character...
Francesca Delbanco was a superb Cecily, presenting just the right mixture of child-like innocence and teenage romance. Janine Poreba was also entertaining as Gwendolen, although her accent was rather precarious at times...
