Publisher Hadden was born in Brooklyn, the son of the late Crowell Hadden Jr. and the present Mrs. William P. Pool. Banker Crowell Hadden, 88, is his grandfather. He went to the Hotchkiss School and Yale University (class of 1920). He edited both the school and college newspapers. During the War he was a leader in the R. 0. T. C. movement.
