Nagy's play, which first premiered in London in 1995, takes place in Manhattan, on the East Side. The plot focuses around the disappearance of Sarah Casey (Adia Tucker '01), a travel agent who never travels, and on Elston Rupp's (Brendon DeMay '03) possible involvement with this disappearance. Sarah's mother (Dale Shuger '01) doesn't care about her, and her boyfriend (Shawn Snyder '03) doesn't understand...
Admittedly, the pace of the second act slows somewhat with the incorporation of the two additional characters and the plot complications they provide. In part, this is due to the nature of the script. Yew includes several poetic monologues which, though eloquently written and sincerely delivered, do not cover a lot of new ground. On the whole, the best moments of A Language of Their Own come not when the characters elegize to the audience over the successes and failures of communication with each other, but when they literally establish (and at times destroy) an intimate and mutual working language...

Nicky is a goodhearted, likeable little scamp, but rarely are the terms goodhearted and likeable associated with comedy. The supporting cast, however, is terrific and surprisingly quite respectable. Ifans, gleefully...
Admittedly, the plot line of The Beauty Queen of Leenane is not breathtakingly original. Set in the 1960s in the obscure village of Leenane in the county Connemara, it tells the story of a prototypical dysfunctional family. Maureen Folan is a forty-year-old woman stuck in a dismal job and still living with her mother in a tiny countryside shanty. Mag Folan is a crotchety 70 year old with a urinary infection and a nasty habit of emptying her bedpan in the dish sink. Maureen is offered a route of escape when Pato Dooley, a man of roughly...
...Sophia Chang '01-dressed in fantastic costumes of over-sized shoes, tutus and striped stockings-who carry large signs with messages such as "The First Kiss." These signs aided the transitions of the musical, while the whimsy of their bearers keeps them from being perceived as simple plot devices...
