Effects of the Pill. In greatest demand are women office workers. For the first time, women have been hired as clerks on the floor of the American Stock Exchange. John Fanning of Manhattan's Fanning Personnel Agency says that the shortage of secretaries "is the tightest we've ever seen"; a competent young secretary in New York can get $110 a week.
