...panic really began in Erbil on Monday. That was when people started to close their shops, buy supplies and head to the hills. On Monday about 75 percent of shops were open; by Wednesday less than half were still doing business. People were buying gas and jerrycans, and plastic sheeting for windows in case of a chemical weapons attack.
