PROFESSOR PAINE'S Symphony was given for the first time on Wednesday evening, by the Thomas orchestra; and was heard, seemingly with great pleasure, by a large and appreciative audience. That the Symphony should bear the test of being played in the same concert with the second of Beethoven, is sufficient evidence of its intrinsic merit; the first and third movements being particularly beautiful.
