There is no student franchise law in Massachusetts, and the boards of registration in accepting students are governed only by an opinion of the Supreme Court of Massachusetts addressed to the House of Representatives in 1843. This opinion states that a student must establish a legal domicile in the town where he wishes to vote, and as his domicile can be presumed to be that of his parent or guardian, the burden of proof rests upon him to establish a change of domicile, if his parent or guardian reside in some other locality than that in which he wishes...
