Mr. Heinrich Conried, who is to present Goethe's "Iphigenie" here will also present a German play before Cornell University early in April. As at Harvard, Mr. Conried will bear all the expenses of the play and the proceeds will be given to the German Department.

The Fogg Museum has recently received about one thousand photographs of Greek topography and works of art. The photographs are issued by the German Archaeological Institute of Athens. As they are unmounted they cannot be put on exhibition for some time.

The Pasteur medal will be awarded this year to the best debater at the final interclass debate. According to the terms of the gifts the debate must be on some question taken from contemporary French politics. Verlaine began his literary career early in life by writing poetry of the Parnassien School, his first works being "Saturniens" and "Les Fetes Galantes." The latter work is in the style of eighteenth century verse, and is almost beyond criticism. Among his more famous poems is "La Bonne Chanson."
