The story of the game was the turnovers. In the first half the Crimson turned the ball over 16 times, while forcing only eight. The turnovers were mainly due to forced passes underneath on the offensive end.

Harvard competed very well against some of the top wrestlers in the nation, including beating Iowa twice in its two head-to-head matchups with the Hawkeye grapplers. Iowa dominated the rest of the field, winning the tournament by over 50 points.
