Lieutenant Peary thinks the North Pole will be reached. The old supposition that a volcano or deep hole would be found at the Pole is now discarded, and explorers expect to find there either land or an open ocean. The pole is now only 260 miles from the farthest northern point reached, and Lieutenant Peary stated it as a certainty that it will soon be discovered...
