...improvement of our eleven this year over any we have ever had before has been a matter of comment from many sources. That this fact is due in a very great measure to the faithful work of the men, and the untiring efforts of Captain Holden, is beyond dispute. Nevertheless the aid rendered by Messrs. ...patriotism has not been for nothing, and their steady cheering will be a great aid to the representatives on the field. It must be admitted that it is a great deal more trouble to accompany a team on a trip than it is on Jarvis and yell "Harvard," but nevertheless it should not prevent a man from giving his team the support that it deserves. It is all the more creditable to those men who have gone to New Haven that they went in spite of the apathy surrounding them...

EDITORS DAILY CRIMSON :- There are but four or five libraries in this country which contain a larger number of books or have better facilities for getting at them than the one connected with this college. Nevertheless I have heard the same complaint repeated again and again that, though the above be true, the general usefulness of the library is seriously hampered by the fact that all the reading done in the library must be during the day time. It is a lamentable fact that from some petty fear of a fire breaking out and destroying the magnificent collection of books...
