...Popeye straight and he plays him well. He looks the part in his sailor's garb, with a crew cut, "squinky" eye, corncob pipe, ruddy complexion, and latex-enlarged forearms and calves. He also has the gravelly muttering voice and the "pronunskiation" down, and his singing and dancing pass muster. What seems curiously lacking is evidence of Williams' brilliant gift for improvisation. ...American-initiated Marshall Plan would involve not only a direct transfer of resources by the affluent countries, but a network of "micro-efforts" by American coporations to aid private enterprise or state-owned entrepreneurial organizations. He proposes modification of World Bank and the International Monetary Fund organizational structure to muster wasted resources currently held by OPEC or in the bloated Eurocurrency market and target them for strategic industrial projects in Third World countries. Symbolic of their separate seasons were the opening-game pitchers. The Royals sent in 20-game winner Dennis Leonard, fresh from a victory in the opening game against the Yankees. The Phillies could muster just a single unexhausted arm after the catfight with Houston, Rookie Bob Walk, 23. When the Royals jumped off to a four-run lead, courtesy of two home runs, they seemed ready to roll. But Philadelphia, helped by a three-run homer from Bake McBride, answered with a five-run burst its next time at bat and took the first game...

Restic will need all the troops he can muster for tomorrow's long sold out game, the Crimson's once-every-four-years journey to the New Hampshire boonies. Big Green coach Joe Yukica will have an enormously fired-up squad--and a notoriously rowdy crowd--working for him. Not only is Saturday the Dartmouth homecoming, and not only have the Big Green lost three straight non-league games after a win over Penn, but this year is the 100th anniversary of Dartmouth football, an event Hanoverians desparately want to commemorate with a championship...
