...Gibbs' assertion that first lady Laura Bush snubbed President Ahmadinejad was an attempt to smear Mrs. Bush. From the first picture you published, it seemed to me that Mrs. Bush was acknowledging the President of Iran, and it was he who was ignoring her. Did Ms. Gibbs expect Mrs. Bush to give Ahmadinejad a hug and a kiss? If the President of Iran were a gentleman, he would have stood in the presence of the lady. ...first seven waves failed to frighten people off). This new offensive was followed by a high-profile legal victory over Jammie Thomas, a Native American woman who may have illegally transmitted twenty-four songs over the peer-to-peer transfer program called Kazaa. The jury that ruled on Ms. Thomas’ case awarded the plaintiffs $9,250 in damages per song, totaling $220,000. Though Ms. Thomas could have originally settled for much less, it seems the record companies’ strategy in the case of harshly punishing customers who step out of line is representative. Maybe I should just give up and gnaw on soy bars all day. But Wansink doesn't see it that way. He figures there are plenty of meals where...

...quietly reinvented the entire concept of the sitcom with a budget of roughly $25 and a cast of one. Without delving into the world of “wacky voices,” her show features a cast of roughly a dozen characters, all deftly played by the inestimable Ms. Bamford. It all hinges on elegantly cheap editing and rich character illustrations—oh, and also she’s really funny. But what keeps you coming back for more is the fact that, beneath the technical innovation and hilarious writing, Maria’s tale of living...
