...July 1928, one Oliver H. Austin Jr. caught a common tern in Northern Labrador, put an aluminum band around its leg. In September 1929, the same tern, still banded, was seen and examined off the southern tip of Africa, in the Indian Ocean, 9,000 mi. from Labrador.
