...first college football match of the season was played on the Manhattan Polo Grounds, in New York, Saturday last, with Columbia. Two of Harvard's regular Team, Houston and Manning, were unable to play, Foster and Boyd taking their places. Harvard won the toss, and took the wind, giving Columbia the kick-off. ...been predicted, the Class Races last Saturday resulted in a very even match between the Senior and Sophomore Crews. Although the former won, the latter maintained throughout the excellent form by which they were successful in both races last spring, and seem to offer several possible candidates for the 'Varsity.
