...Widener Library has lately received from Mr. George Rapall Noyes '84, of Norwich, Conn., four manuscript volumes containing the letters of his uncle, John B. Noyes, of the Class of 1858. Noyes enlisted as a private early in the Civil War, became a captain of the 28th Massachusetts Volunteers, and after passing through a long and active service, including Cedar Mountain, Antietam, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, the Battles of the Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor and Petersburg, was brevetted Colonel U.
