Carter opened the sixth for Yale with a low liner almost over third base. Winslow reached after it and fell on his side, catching the ball at arms length and close to the ground. It was one of the finest plays ever seen on Holmes Field. Speer reached first on a high fly, which fell between Winslow and Rand, but Letton and Quinby went out on a fly to Paine and a grounder to Wrenn respectively...
Mason started the fourth inning with another scratch hit past first base. Hubbard knocked a hot liner to Highlands who made a double play with Stevenson by catching Mason off at first. Abbott and Warren got their bases on balls, but Bowen struck out. Harvard got one run in this inning. Highlands got his base on balls, went to second on Rand's hit, third on Hubbard's error and scored on Hayes's grounder to Soule, whose brilliant stop was the star play of the game...
Harvard came in with two runs against them, but soon had the score tied. Winslow hit out a long, low liner which Gorman gathered in prettily. Hayes led off for Harvard by hitting a liner to Avil who made an excusable fumble. Scannell struck out, but Burgess sacrificed to Avil, and, while he was being put out, Hayes, by good base running, reached third. Avil ran out in center for Wrenn's high fly, and then dropped it, so that Hayes scored. Stevenson flied to Goeckel...
