Since I attend the Law School and am a virgin, I would not be directly affected by the College proposals. But I abhor the attitude towards men that it inculcates. In applying discriminatory penalties and lesser protection to men, the recommendations of the Date Rape Task Force flout the spirit of due process and laws guarding against sexual discrimination. Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges should promote gender equality by rejecting the Task Force's proposed definitions of sexual misconduct. Hans Bader

Young people who have grown up enjoying a succession of ingenious Japanese-made consumer products have developed a contempt for anything made by lesser mortals. Misalliance is a play without plot. There is certainly no lack of satire in it, but the piece is ruined for the viewer if the cast and director make the mistake of reading too much into this lesser-known George Bernard Shaw masterpiece. Fortunately, the American Repertory Theater has, for once, refused to take itself too seriously, and its production of Misalliance reflects this admirable restraint.
