The tunes are familiar to every one, but the words are generally unknown and it is urged that every one either learn them this morning or bring the songs to the Field for reference. ...first set Ward and Davis secured a lead of 4-2, but lost the set 6-4 on account of misplays by Davis at critical moments. The challengers lobbed continually, but many of their balls fell too close to the net, and were easily killed by their opponents. Whitman showed great steadiness, and covered ground brilliantly.
