...Rising mainland prices should come as no surprise. For years, economists have wrung their hands over the prospect that China's economy might finally overheat. The latest inflation report signals that time may be at hand. China has recorded four straight years of double-digit economic growth, and 2007 will likely be the fifth: first-quarter GDP expanded by 11.1%. At a moment when the rest of the world fears roiling credit markets might reduce growth, China faces a different challenge: how to slow its economic locomotive before it jumps the tracks...
Bredekamp, a scholar of both art history and the history of science, says this latest find shows vividly how art and science worked together in Galileo's mind. "It's not that Galileo used drawing just to illustrate the ideas he had already discovered, but that through the movement of his hand he became aware of what he was seeing," says Bredekamp. Ondaatje has a talent for mixing highbrow...

Not only did Hizballah survive the bombardment, but its observers still had the presence of mind to keep score. Not bad for 3,000 regular fighters up against a regional superpower...
When the show premiered two summers ago, critics bashed it, calling it “the latest Fox suppository,” because it stole the structure of “American Idol” while reserving none of its appeal. Little did they know that Fox would later premiere shows such as “Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader?” and “Don’t Forget the Lyrics!” But two years later, and a week before the third season’s finale, I remain convinced that...
