...Gist: If you don't want your kid to join the military, have them read the latest report on the health of Gulf War veterans, released by a congressionally mandated panel earlier this week. The 465-page study details how the U.S. military mistakenly poisoned its own soldiers with two chemicals during Operation Desert Storm, leading to a number of debilitating symptoms - from chronic muscle pain and digestive problems to memory loss and persistent skin lesions - now collectively known as Gulf War illness (GWI). The latest Mustang also has gained from the continuity on the team represented by Gelardi and Randle, who have stayed together for years, much like product development teams at the most successful Japanese companies such as Toyota and Honda. The latest data from the National Statistics Bureau shows there were over 772,000 foreign nationals working in Japan in 2005, up 12% from 2000. But not all segments of society are comfortable or set up for a large immigrant workforce. "The Japanese legal system doesn't assume that foreigners will settle down to live and work with the Japanese," says Hirano of Kyushu University. "That's been an obstacle to bringing foreign workers into the medical and care-service fields." Shiro Kawahara, president of the 60,000-strong Nihon...
