Time was when the typical freshman adviser was a Lampoon editor who faithfully cut all advisees that failed to pay due tribute to his existence. And this adviser was typical only of the interested. Most of them evidently regarded their position as a means of appearing in the columns of the Crimson. To the average freshman, his adviser remained a myth. The relationship remained an ephemeral bond, concocted by University authorities to add a savor of cordiality to the welcome accorded the first year...

Hitch '27, president of the Glee Club; F. V. Field, president of the CRIMSON; J. L. Whedon '27, president of the Lampoon; H. W. Bragdon '28, Pegasus of the Advocate; and C. D. Coady '27, captain of the University football team. Each of these men will give a brief talk outlining the organization of which he is the head. ...rumor is that the Lampoon has seen fit to parody this weekly Ziet-Blatt (my German A does fade) in a burst of wanton wit. And I am certainly proud to know it. When the Lampoon hears of anything to parody that thing is certainly established. I feel positively aged in the wood at the honor.
