While outsiders often have trouble adapting to Hollywood's insular ways, Sony appeared decisive and savvy last week. Columbia CEO Victor Kaufman and chief operating officer Lewis Korman announced that they would be leaving once the deal was set. At the same time, Sony said it agreed to pay $200 million to buy Guber-Peters Productions. One of the hottest producer teams in Hollywood, Peter Guber, 47, a former Columbia production executive, and Jon Peters, 42, who got his start as a hairdresser to the stars, produced Rain Man for United Artists and Batman for Warner Bros...
...freshman unity. "We need more of a student's center. Every other school has a place where students can meet and pass the time; there's no place like that here. I don't know people who are three entries over. That's really bad." The one change Korman said she would like to see would be the addition of a late-night grill...

This time, however, the result is a truly terrible movie. -By Richard Schickel
There were possibilities here. Bob Newhart plays the President of the United States; Madeline Kahn is his dipso wife, Gilda Radner his ditsy daughter. Superb comedians play supporting roles: Harvey Korman, Austin Pendleton, Bob Dishy, many more. And Buck Henry keeps threatening to prove himself a Renaissance man for this dark age of comedy. He has shown his talent in screenplays, magazine writing and, most convincingly, as a frequent guest on the Tonight show, where his deadpan surrealism is most at home. Henry may need collaborators-a Mike Nichols, a Johnny Carson-to spark his wry, reactive humor...
