...Nobody doubts that without reclamation there wouldn't be a Hong Kong. The narrow band of land squeezed between the water and the hills of Hong Kong island was always too small to nourish the territory's ambitions. But the development of the city's waterfront has been both relentless and uncoordinated. Hong Kong has no central planning for the harbor: its use and misuse are dictated by more than a dozen competing government departments and covered by at least 15 separate zoning plans. Hong Kong's "relationship with the waterfront was always an awkward thing," says Richard Marshall...

...society of futuristic ape-like creatures sit brooding in a dark, rusty tower circled by helicopters and visited by a floating island powered by a Dutch windmill. Sound familiar? God, I hope not. This is the basic plot of “Feel Good Inc.,” the long-awaited new release from the world’s preeminent animated brainy hip-hop all-star extravaganza Gorillaz (and De La Soul guest on this track!), and it’s hot. It’s not pushing any boundaries, (and, hey, what is these days?) but the video...

...looking forward to this movie called ‘The Island,’ where there’s clones made up of people, and they’re on this island...I’ll be honest, it was all the trailer that made me want to watch it. If you put together a good trailer and the right score, like ‘dah-duh-DAH!’...then there’s some weird conflict where the clones get out and people are confused by them. Really, the trailer doesn’t show much except...

...gosh-darned charismatic and compelling, but I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if he isn’t. The little harpsichord-type thingy is so eerie and sun-drenched, it’s hard to believe this guy was from NYC and not an island of tribal warriors that worshipped him as a Brando-style god. “I see some laydeez tonight that should be havin’ my baby, baby.” Can I be one of those laydeez, Christopher? Christopher...
