...Instead of succumbing to history, Harvard pulled off easy wins, defeating the Elis 5-2 and the Tigers 4-1. Junior center Steve Moore and younger brother, freshman center Dominic each had two goals and three assists and were joined with stellar play from junior center Chris Bala. Those victories put the Crimson in its current position of seventh place...
Nevertheless, both parties could have dealt with the name issue without jeopardizing the already fragile bailout talks. Instead of sending a terse letter to the state asserting Harvard's right to the use of its name, Provost Harvey V. Fineberg '67 could have found a more tactful way of bringing the issue to the table--perhaps after HPHC's future was a little more secure. Similarly, one wonders whether legal recourse was the only option available to the state...
While Milosevic has destroyed the lives of many people by pursuing his own interests instead of securing the rights of Serbians and all other minorities, the future could be even dimmer. The consequence of breakdowns on the Syrian and Palestinian front, and Israel's bombing of Lebanon in response to Hezbollah attacks, has seen Barak's store of goodwill among...
Seriously behind in points, Bill Bradley needed to deliver a knockout punch in Wednesday night's debate, the type of blow that would draw the headlines that have eluded his candidacy since the primary season began in late January. Instead, the ex-senator employed the dubious fight plan of laying off of his opponent, getting in only the occasional soft jab. Bradley barely mentioned Gore during the debate, reversing his previous tack of criticizing the veep's wavering on such issues as abortion and gun control, and instead emphasizing his own agenda. In the end, the only headlines Bradley garnered...
