When Wallace got to the Holiday Inn at Harrisburg, a $25 dollar-a-plate fund-raising dinner was just getting underway. The diners here, like the crowd which had welcomed him at Hershey a few hours before, were a very different group from the people who had turned out to see Wallace shortly before in New York and Trenton. Those people were predominantly blue-collar workers and their children. But in Harrisburg Wallace's supporters were of the older right-wing breed--used-car salesmen, small businessmen and farmers who used to be Republicans, not Democrats...

Vomit on Joy. Inside, several hundred security men were assigned to mingle with delegates and spectators while others stood vigil on catwalks overseeing the entire arena. There was even talk of putting men in subterranean service areas. Employees of the amphitheatre, the neighboring Stock Yard Inn and major hotels were all checked for security. Jail Tents. Employees at the Stock Yard Inn, where many of the delegates will eat at least once, have been checked for security. (Three failed to meet specifications, but were fired for "incompetence" before the test was completed.) Secret Service agents will inspect all personnel and cargoes going into the stockyards.
