Died. Jonathan Dixon Maxwell, 64, famed pioneer of the automobile industry; of pneumonia; at his home in Chesterton, Md. Starting his career as a bicycle tinker in Kokomo, Ind., Maxwell, with two others, Elmer Apperson and Elwood Haynes, built the first automobile manufactured in the U. S.
