Loeb Associate Professor of the Social Sciences A. Iain Johnston, who describes his own methods as an eclectic mix, says the primary difference between area specialists and those who believe in rational choice is a greater emphasis on the part of the former on the importance of tradition and culture...
...demanding role," says Iain Softley, the film's director, "because Kate does dark things and yet she has to be sympathetic." At 31, Bonham Carter is up to the challenge, physically and technically. She is, for a start, fully ravishing now. Her dramatic coloring--black eyes, ivory skin--is splashed on a tauter canvas. Maturity has made her chipmunk cheeks swankly concave, allowing her, as Kate, to mull her plotting as if it were a fine port. Still, this good-natured movie is very much in the spirit of those ancient comedies from Ealing Film Studios in which nice, silly people defend some enclave of old-fashioned sanity...
Merging the buccaneering MCI culture with tradition-bound BT could prove tricky. To preserve MCI's independent spirit, Roberts will serve as co-chairman with BT chief Iain Vallance and remain at MCI headquarters in Washington...
